“and you shall hear of the midnight ride of Paul Revere.” Bring back memories? It certainly does for me. Of course, Paul never actually made the ride, and he certainly didn’t shout, “The British are coming! At that time, all colonists considered themselves “British”. I often wonder what those same colonists would think if they could observe those “colonies” today . . .
I was born and raised in one of those original thirteen colonies and have ancestors who fought. . . and some died . . . in the Revolutionary War. I think it sparked my later love for history. Someone once wrote that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it. Nothing could be truer.
I’ve been watching the current confrontation over men’s participation in women’s sports and wholeheartedly support President Trump in his efforts to prevent such activity. I have no problem with gender transition in adults; however, said transition should not be used to disadvantage the opposite sex.
Most are not aware that, at the time of the revolution, women had absolutely no rights. Their place was in the kitchen. It would be another hundred forty-odd years before females could enter a voting booth, let alone hold public office. Today, they must fight to save their sports programs and maintain equality in the workplace. No one believed that a woman would one day become Vice President of the United States.
Birthright citizenship is once again at the front of the news cycle. Leftist loons like Hakeem Jeffries and Jamie Raskin insist that the Constitution states that “any person born or naturalized” in the country is automatically an American citizen. It implies that a child born here whether it be illegal alien or someone just visiting the country while on vacation is automatically an American citizen. They fail to read the entire passage which includes the conveniently missing third mandate which reads: “and subject to the jurisdiction thereof”. Neither visitors nor illegals are citizens, and are not subject to jurisdiction . . . i.e. citizenship. The Founders had no intention of allowing otherwise.
The primary purpose of the Constitution was to create a check on constitutional power. Experiencing the danger of an all-powerful central government which they were leaving, the Founders attempted to quell the very Deep State that we find ourselves in today.
The Bill of Rights has been devastated by political interference. Freedom of speech only applies if the party in power approves it. The right to bear arms has become “you don’t have a right to own guns . . . even to protect yourself and your family. “Guns kill people!” As anyone with an IQ of thirty will immediately reply; is that “People kill people.” A weapon is simply a tool. The individual who plowed into a parade killing several marchers had no problem fulfilling his insane desire. How about the freak who, lacking a firearm, uses a hatchet! Should we ban hatchets and automobiles along with guns?
The simple truth is this: unarmed people are much more easily to control. The Founders were well aware of this fact and deliberately made an effort to prevent an unarmed society. It goes without saying that the Left strongly agrees with the king of England. Their contempt for the Constitution is scary. Power and control are the only things that matter. If a conservative politician is suspected of a crime, every effort will be made to imprison him. Donald Trump is a classic example. If a liberal is suspected, the charges disappear. Hunter Biden comes to mind.
The Founders were well aware that their document would require alterations from time to time and allowed the possibility of amendments. This has occurred twenty-plus times since they completed their project, the first ten being the Bill of Rights which the left has repeated on numerous occasions. Amendments one and two get the most abuse; however, they are not alone. Example: Amendment 8.
In closing, my heart goes out to the families who lost relatives in the Texas flood. The image of the two deceased sisters found holding hands will stay with me for some time. Those who risked their lives rescuing survivors ought to be especially commended. It is a catastrophe that will not be forgotten for some time to come. And thanks to the left media who quickly determined the cause of the flood. “it’s Trump’s fault.
