STUPIDITY DOUBLED

I recently read an article indicating that a conducted poll revealed  that fifty-seven percent of voters believe that the shutdown is Donald Trump’s fault!  My first response was incredulity.  Multiple efforts on the part of conservatives to reopen the government were stymied by Democrats who refused to comply.  This, even though the food stamp program is next to close, leaving liberal voters unable to feed their families!

Let me attempt to comprehend the position the liberals are taking while denying food and paychecks to everyone but themselves.  It is to continue funding perhaps the most incompetent, misused and ill-conceived medical program ever conceived by Congress.  It is called Obamacare,  named quite adequately after one of our most incompetent presidents.

Let’s discuss polls for a moment.  Perhaps the most sinister aspect of polling is that people tend to believe what they are reading.  Let’s pretend that I am about to conduct a poll.  I will do so in two separate locations and the question will be Do you think that Donald Trump is performing well as President?  The first location will be in downtown New York City.  The second will be the Nebraska State Fair.  Do you wish to predict the outcome of both polls?  I didn’t think so.

Is Donald Trump perfect?  Obviously, that hasn’t happened in  a couple thousand years, if even then.  His staff desperately wishes that he would sometimes think before he opens his mouth.  Comments that he obviously made as a joke are then printed as serious and used against him.  There are too many examples to mention; however, the  “dictator” reference gave the leftist press a field day.

I’ve previously mentioned that I don’t agree with how he’s handling the illegal ICE campaign and mass firings of federal employees.  I also strongly disagree with destroying boats while in international waters even though I commend the objective.  As I’m sure you are aware, Trump neither drinks nor takes drugs due to family-related issues and addiction is a particularly sensitive topic for him.

It was with some humor and more disgust that a recent news blip revealed that Arnold Schwartzenegger’s father had been a member of the Nazi Party.  This conjures up visions of Jews being exterminated and other horrible acts that he must have taken part in.  Nothing could be farther from the truth. The term “Nazi” derives from the word “National”, pronounced Natze-o-nal in German and stands for the National Socialist German Worker’s Party.  It’s a nickname.

The party was created in 1919, shortly after Germany lost WWI and socialism was becoming a popular philosophy in Europe.  During the 1920’s many young German men joined, hoping to rebuild the country, and my father-in-law, Otto Plaskuda, was one.  He was just entering medical school.  A prominent leader, Adolph Hitler, was popular at first, but his radical ideas turned many off and Otto left the party along with numerous others before Hitler took power in 1933.  So, by those standards the current mayoral frontrunner in New York City is a Nazi, as are all socialists.  Pretty stupid, huh?

The Germans got another bad rap with the misuse of the “N” word which is flung around so freely.  During and after the Civil War, slaves fled north to Canada using a means referred to as the “Underground Railroad” and folks stepped up to protect and house them along the way.  Doing so was risky to say the very least since the slaves were considered stolen property at the time.

One entity participating in this heroic effort was a group of southern Pennsylvania farmers called  The Pennsylvania Dutch who were actually Deutsch, or German.  The German word for Negro is Negar, pronounced “Naygah” and those fleeing slavery were referred to by that name with no offense intended.  How it took on such a shameful phrase I can only guess.  While I was in the army, my Black comrades often referred to one another by that term and we were “Honkies”, but no one was offended on either side.  Obviously, the anger came later right along with stupidity.
