SEPARATION

The Separation of Church and State is a fundamental principle of American governance that ensures religious institutions and government remain independent of one another promoting religious freedom and preventing government endorsement of religion.

Sounds good, doesn’t it?  Obviously, that is no longer the case.  While I am an agnostic, I firmly believe that everyone has a right, as well as an obligation, to pray in the church of their choice without government interference.  Tell that to the Catholic parishioners investigated by the FBI or the individual arrested for praying outside an abortion clinic on public property!  There are so many instances when events conjure up the  visage of Big Brother.

I wonder if it  would it be possible to initiate a Separation of Politics and State?  I don’t suppose so.  If such was the case, perhaps we could avoid the appointment of a female Supreme Court Justice who can’t define the term woman.  Or a district court Judge who makes decisions based upon his political leanings rather than common law.  Judge Boasberg, are you paying attention?

Forgive me for repeating if, indeed, I am, but our criminal justice system has become a broken toy.  Oliver Wendell Holmes would be doing a double take and the Founding Fathers screaming!  Want to know why the federal government is so f***ed up?  Simple:  It’s being run by lawyers.

There was a time when attorneys were the heroes.  They went around righting wrongs and putting the dad guys in jail.  Now, they are the bad guys.  What would Perry Mason think of the shenanigans taking place today?  Skeptical?  Pick a current politician with a scurrilous reputation and then check his personal profession.  Five will get you ten that it’s law. Let’s see . . . Chuck Schumer, Hakeem Jeffries, Adam Schiff, Corey Booker, Joe Biden, Barack Obama, Eric Swalwell . . .  Have I made my point?

Without common law, a civilization cannot exist, much less thrive.  And to exist it must be respected.  And to be respected, it must be fair and impartial.  That has not been the case for some time.  Justice is currently meted out by who you know and not what you’ve done.  Hunter Biden comes to mind.  He is currently making the leftist media circuit with expletive-laden rants about how unfairly Trump is treating his father!  It would be laughable if it wasn’t so sickening.

This, after the efforts of the Biden Administration to put Donald Trump in prison based on bogus claims.  The left is now claiming that the Trump Administration is abusing the law (lawfare) to wreak vengeance on his opponents, the very thing they did for several years prior to his re-election!  The hypocrisy is stunning.

I’ve become convinced that the only solution to cleaning the Swamp is a Convention of States Action.  Article V of the Constitution provides for changes in the document by a majority of states meeting to do so.  Attempts are well under way with numerous states already having indicated that they will participate.  I’ve been contributing to that worthy cause for some time.

Currently, judicial positions are filled via nomination, usually by the administration with Congressional approval.  Said nominations and approvals are based upon the nominee’s political affiliation.  Politics has no place in the judicial process and nominations should be made by qualifications rather than political affiliation.  Legal decisions should be made based upon facts and not whether the judge is liberal or conservative.  The Supreme Court is a classic example.

As for separation of church and state, I recently read that the African nation of Nigeria is ignoring the deaths of thousands of Christians
