As I’m sure you’ve noticed, the latest furor concerns AI development and the fear that it will ultimately wipe out humanity. I don’t pretend to understand the concept and have read very little concerning the practice; however, I’m confident that the human race will somehow survive.
For those of us who are old enough to remember, the same frantic response occurred at the introduction of the Internet and Y2K . . . that this phenomenon will result in the end of humanity as we know it. Are there any of us now who don’t rely heavily on the internet? And we are a quarter century into the 2,000s and still functioning rather well and society is still here with all of its frailties . . .
The chief concern regarding AI as I understand it is control. We are currently in a race with China to maintain the upper hand in development in order to maintain that control. Obviously, AI would be a powerful tool when engaged in military conflict and could result in victory for either combatant.
On the positive side, AI marks the announcement of a new industrial revolution which has already made tremendous strides in several fields including that of medicine, primarily cancer research. I’m certain that its impact on civilization will benefit humanity immensely.
On to other things . . . A recent investigation into Act Blue, a liberal fund raiser, has disclosed fraudulent donations to national campaigns. This is absolutely forbidden and the lawyers running the operation have already resigned. It will be interesting to watch the progress of said investigation.
Another interesting event: President Trump has banned CNN, MS-NOW and POLITICO from presence in the White House Newsroom. Obviously, the left has gone crazy, claiming violation of the First Amendment and threats of pending lawsuits. Bark Obama was quick to get his two cents in, stating that nothing like that occurred in his White House! He conveniently forgets his attacks on Fox News with all kinds of threats and attacks on the network’s staff including the criminal arrest of James Rosen after a secret search warrant issued by the Department of Justice invaded his life. One of the biggest unanswered questions of my lifetime is how this moron managed to get elected president!
And this Clancy trial thing gets more and more weird. Her ambulance-chasing defense attorney is now requesting an investigation of the single declining juror who, in my humble opinion, is a hero. Actually, it was Clancy’s ex-husband whom she sent shopping while she committed the crimes. He is re-married, SOOO, why was he running errands for her? Oh, well . . .
And how about that situation in Austin, Texas? An ICE agent shot and wounded an illegal alien and, within hours, dozens of protesters fill the streets and waving flags and shouting filth! It is my understanding that an American-born Chinese billionaire is behind much of the “protest activity” in the country and his goal is the promotion of communism. I think it is important to note that this type of activity is well organized rather than random.
In the Austin incident, for example, the left-wing news media went apoplectic stating that ICE rammed his vehicle and shot him without cause. Actually, the suspect was an illegal alien whose work permit had expired in 1995 and who had deportation papers pending for some time. Surveillance footage had him fleeing and his vehicle had no damage at that time.
Finally, the Trump Administration recently announced that an investigation into the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) revealed 750,000 fraudulent accounts which were immediately closed! Isn’t it nice to know where your hard-earned tax money is going? This administration has done more to curb fraud than the previous three accomplished by far!
The midterms are now just forty or so days away and I am deeply concerned about the results. Will it be COMunism or COMmon sense? What do you think?
